MIRNEWS.139 24 JULY 1992 DAILY ROUTINE: After the spacewalk (EVA) on 8 July 1992 the functioning of the repaired gyrodynes has been checked daily during almost every pass. Recently the crew showed some optimism about the functioning of the on board systems and they were sure that the MIR-complex is good enough to receive the reliefcrew and their French guest. LAUNCH OF SOYUZ-TM15 1 DAY LATER: For ballistic reasons the Russians had to put back the launch of S-TM15 (originally planned for 26th of July) with 1 day. Now the launch is planned for 27 July 1992 at 0608UTC. If all goes according to the schedule S-TM15 will dock to MIR on 29 July 1992 at abt. 0750UTC. PROGRESS-M13: Orbitcorrections: On July 16th 1992 the MIR-complex has been put into a higher orbit by the engines of Pr-M13. Before and after this last correction the systems to control MIR's attitude have been thoroughly checked during drastic manoeuvres. Undocking and decay: On 24 July 1992 at 041332UTC Pr-M13 was separated from MIR. For a long time Pr-M13 flew somewhat ahead of the complex. The cosmonauts were instructed to make TV- and other images of the Pr-M13. They used camera's installed inside and outside the station. Viktorenko did this until Pr-M13 burnt up in the atmosphere. The motorburn for the de-orbiting of Pr-M13 took place at 0713UTC while MIR and Pr-M13 were North of China. The last flames and sparks Viktorenko saw at 0757UTC when Pr-M13 entered the earth's atmosphere and decayed. This was over the Pacific West of South America. This took place out of range of the tracking stations and the TDRS Altair. So later on Viktorenko (during pass in orb. 36806, 0845UTC) reported this verbally. The recorded TV-images will be transmitted to earth later on, possibly via Altair, which we of course hope to receive also. Return capsule: TsUP declared that no such capsule had been used this time. SOYUZ-TM14: This ship is docked to the aft (Kvant-1) docking port and will possibly be redocked to the forward port. If so this has to happen before the arrival of S-TM15. This ship has to dock to the aft-port. Thusfar I did not get information about the redocking operation of S-TM14. I hope to report about this in my next report. Chris v.d. Berg, NL-9165/A-UK3202.
